Duff Law & Mediation, PLLC provides mediation services throughout the State of Florida and nationwide. Its principal, Candace R. Duff, Esq. is a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Civil and Appellate mediator who specializes in commercial, construction, insurance, employment, bankruptcy (adversarial and mortgage modification cases), federal, appellate, tort, products liability, and real property mediation.
Ms. Duff is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Construction and Commercial rosters of neutrals. She is also listed on the Southern District of Florida and the Middle District of Florida’s mediation rosters.
Having successfully resolved numerous disputes through mediation and informal settlement negotiations, she is a firm believer in the cost effectiveness and other positive benefits of alternative dispute resolution. She believes that the role of a mediator is to facilitate discussions between the parties designed to achieve a mutually agreeable resolution to the pending dispute. Her approach is to help the parties focus on their interests (as opposed to their perceived legal posture) and figure out how to achieve those interests in a mutually agreeable manner.
Ms. Duff’s hourly rate for mediation services is $350.00 per hour and she has a four hour minimum ($1400.00). She does not charge for travel time for settlement conferences held in Miami-Dade County. Broward County, or Palm Beach County. A two hour cancellation fee ($700.00) applies to mediation conferences cancelled less than forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled mediation date.
Mediation conferences may take place in counsel’s offices, at another place agreed to by the parties, or at a neutral location found by Duff Law for that purpose. In the event Duff Law provides the venue for the mediation, the fee for renting the facilities shall be passed onto the parties.
Duff Law has negotiated an arrangement for a certain amount of conference room space at its home office in Plantation, Florida. If the space is available and Duff Law’s monthly hourly amount has not been exhausted, the parties will not incur a rental fee for mediation conferences held there.
